Wallpaper Granny Afghan

Hello Everyone !

Sooo, we’re here to work a little bit on Yarn Leftover Management 🙂

The purpose of the game is to make a beautiful Grany Afghan from scrap.

Here is what I used, I would sort the colors in three different categories, based on the quantities I had at my disposal.

  1. CATEGORY 1 (C1) arger quantities (200 gr or more per color) I have 300 gr orange, 200 gr variegated green and 200 gr dark brown
  2. CATEGORY 2 (C2) leftovers (100 gr or less per colour) There are around 350 gr (most skeinz are uncomplete)
  3. CATEGORY 3 (C3): scrap yarn (50 gr or less per colour)
  4. WHITE: my assortment of colours is a little dull, the White will enlight the other autumn shades and will have to be evenly spread on the pattern. It will appear in every motif therefore, it deserves its own category as a contrasting and reference color. I have around 70 gr at my disposal.

I will use the White in every motif, however, not always at the same place.

In order to balance the quantities and colors at best, I will use C3 and C2 yarns + White on the 3 first rounds, and a C1 or C2 colors on rounds 4 and 5 (which requires more yarn).

We will work motifs which we will attach together as we go. Rounds 3, 4 and 5 are worked in the same C1 or C2 color for all the motifs of the same band. Round 5 is worked in one go, around the formed band of motifs.

Motif Pattern:

I made three different kinds of color arrangement for the bands, here is how I spread the colors:

    • Round 2: join C3 yarn in any ch-2 sp. Ch2, dc in same sp, *ch2, 2dc together, ch2, 2dc together* in next ch-2 space repeat 4 times, end round with ch2, sl in sec ch from beg ch-2. (= 6 “V”)  Break off yarn.
    • Round 3: join C2 yarn in a ch-3 space in the middle of a “V” formed on the previous row..
